Privacy Policy

Who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to ArteVault (https://artevault.art).

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information while you use our website.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the information shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent. We use this information to help detect spam.

We may send an anonymized hash created from your email address to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. You can read the Gravatar Privacy Policy here: Gravatar Privacy Policy.

After we approve your comment, your profile picture becomes visible next to your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our website, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for future convenience. These cookies remain active for one year.

A temporary cookie is created when you visit the login page. This cookie checks whether your browser accepts cookies and contains no personal data. It disappears after you close your browser.

We also create login cookies and screen preference cookies after you sign in. Login cookies remain active for two days, while screen option cookies stay active for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login active for two weeks.

Editing or publishing an article creates an additional cookie in your browser. This cookie stores no personal information and expires after one day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you visited those websites directly.

Third-party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, apply additional tracking technologies, and monitor your interaction with their embedded content.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

We may check visitor comments through an automated spam detection service.
